At Liberty POST, our occupational therapists use their expertise to help children gain the functional skills they need for independence in play, learning, motor skill development, self-care, and socialization in their home, school and community environments. Collaboration with caregivers and healthcare providers is a strong component to our occupational therapy program. Our therapists provide support and education to families to facilitate continued growth outside the direct therapy sessions.
In pediatrics, the occupational therapists will address the following areas using activities that are based in play and meaningful for the child and the family:
- Muscle tone, strength, and endurance
- Postural stability
- Motor planning or praxis
- Sensory integration, regulation, and interpretation
- Modulation and activity level
- Sensory defensiveness
- Sensory seeking behaviors
- Oral Motor/Feeding Skills
- Dressing/undressing
- Hygiene and washing
- Visual Perception
- Refined motor coordination
- Pre-writing skills
